Jackson the Department of Defense – DoD Small Business Programs Acting Director while attending the recent Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Mentor-Protégé Training Week during 13-17 August 2018 in Orlando, FL. The Federally mandated SBIR program was developed to stimulate technology innovation and use businesses to meet federal research and development (R&D) requirements. Applied Companies is available to partner with businesses to develop new technologies. This program is designed to maximize opportunities for companies to contribute to national security by providing combat power for our troops and economic power for our nation. DoD’s , SBIR program invests more than $1 billion each year in small businesses technology. In fiscal year 2017, DoD awarded 23 percent of small-companies-eligible-prime-contract spending to small businesses, earning an “A” in the SBA’s Business Procurement Scorecard.
